Tata Power is all-ready for monsoon season

10 Jun 2024

• Range of precautionary measures have been implemented to ensure reliable power supply and customers' safety

Mumbai, 10th June’24:: As the monsoon season approaches in Mumbai, Tata Power, one of India's leading integrated power companies, has taken comprehensive set of measures towards ensuring safety and providing uninterrupted power supply across Mumbai. With an extensive array of precautionary measures and system upgrades, Tata Power aims to handle the seasonal challenges effectively.

Initiatives implemented by Tata Power for enhanced monsoon preparedness-

Enhanced infrastructure and precautionary measures: Tata Power has conducted comprehensive pre-monsoon checks and maintenance across its distribution and consumer sub-stations in Mumbai. These measures include installing dewatering pumps to prevent flooding, conducting earth leakage tests at over 7,000+ feeder pillars and junction boxes, undertaking a special tree trimming drive near TPC-D substations and internal roads to ensure safety, and raising the heights of electrical installations such as transformers, feeder pillars, and meter rooms.

Emergency response and safety equipment: To further strengthen the readiness, Tata Power has equipped key substations with rescue boats and life jackets. Vehicles loaded with essential tools and equipment are stationed at strategic locations to provide quick response to any emergencies. Additionally, substations have been stocked with necessary spare parts to ensure swift action during power outages. Strategically placed dedicated quick response teams at various nodes across Mumbai are ready to address any eventualities. Vehicles are prepared with necessary equipment to handle emergencies, and all drainage lines in distribution substations have been cleared. Tata Power has also implemented several advanced technological solutions, including water level sensors, LoRa (Long Range) based IoT devices for cost-effective signal transmission to the SCADA system, automatic pumping systems etc.

Customer communication and support: Tata Power has upgraded its customer care centres to provide faster connectivity and direct outreach during emergencies. Consumers can auto register complaints on IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and also report issues via the 24x7 call centre, Tata Power Mobile App and WhatsApp. These platforms ensure that customer complaints and power supply failures are addressed promptly and efficiently
