Mumbai, 23rd January 2025: Tata Power Mumbai Distribution proudly celebrates a notable recognition of its renewable energy initiatives as one of its valued consumers, Mr. Vikas Sharad Chandra Pandit of Borivali, has been invited to attend the 2025 Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, as a special guest.

 

Mr. Pandit, a beneficiary of the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY), is among 800 distinguished guests selected nationwide by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to honour early adopters of rooftop solar systems under the scheme. His 3 kW rooftop solar system, installed in June 2024 through Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, has not only enabled him to achieve energy independence but also ensured zero electricity bill, thanks to the company’s efficient net metering facility.

 

Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, a pioneer in sustainable energy initiatives, has implemented the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana rigorously across Mumbai. More than Over 40 residential buildings and housing societies have already joined the initiative, contributing to a cumulative rooftop solar capacity of approximately 24 MW. The company has facilitated these installations while ensuring direct financial benefits to its consumers, with subsidies amounting to ₹85 lakhs credited so far.

 

The PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has been a game-changer for Mumbai residents, offering an opportunity to harness solar energy and reduce electricity bills significantly. Mr. Pandit’s journey exemplifies the success of this initiative, which aligns with India’s ambitious renewable energy goals.

Mr.Pandit stated that “ My 2.7 kW rooftop solar system facilitated by Tata Power has been a transformative extremely beneficial for my family. In just six months, it has saved ₹24,000 for us and producing approximately 25 units of clean energy daily. I am grateful to Tata Power and MNRE for recognising my effort and inviting us to the Republic Day celebrations. The entire process for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bifli Yojana was seamless, transparent, and online and was made easy by Tata Power Mumbai Distribution team for us to adopt solar energy. I highly recommend rooftop solar to everyone, including my neighbours, many of whom have sought my guidance after seeing our installation. This is a step toward a sustainable future, and I appeal to everyone to adopt rooftop solar and set an example for others to follow."
