Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma, is the CEO of Tata Power Ajmer Distribution Limited (TPADL).


As a seasoned leader with over 35 years of experience, Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma has held key leadership roles across the Central Government, State Power Regulators, Power Sector Industry Associations, and Private Sector Power Utilities driving commercial operations, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance across. As a Chief of Commercial Services at TPWODL (2021-2024), he managed a ₹6,700 Cr turnover across a 48,000 sq. km distribution area, overseeing revenue management, metering, and energy audits. He also served as Chief Ethics Counsellor (CEC) at TPWODL & TPDDL, earning recognition for leadership in business ethics. At TPDDL (2013-2020), he led customer service and revenue management, covering 70% of the company’s revenue, and improved operational efficiency by reducing AT&C losses from 9% to 6%. His tenure at Association of Power Producers (APP) saw him advocating for ₹7 lakh Cr private power sector investments, while at DERC (2004-2010), he played a key role in drafting regulations and establishing consumer grievance institutions. His expertise lie in infrastructure regulations, power distribution, policy, and compliance.


At his current role with the TPADL, Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma is overseeing TPADL’s operations across 200 sq. km, serving 1.68 lakh consumers across industrial, commercial, agricultural, and domestic segments. He is responsible for P&L, operations (11kV & 33kV), commercial functions (new connections, metering, billing, customer services, energy audits), and network management (GIS & SCADA) while handling risk management, cost control, strategy planning, and regulatory compliance.


Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma holds an MBA in Infrastructure from TERI University, complemented by an LLB from Chaudhary Charan Singh University and a B.Com from Christ Church College, Kanpur University. His academic foundation was laid at St. Joseph’s Convent, Kanpur, equipping him with a strong multidisciplinary perspective in commerce, law, and infrastructure management.
